HR Certification Preparation

Minor Consulting Group (MCG) offers HR certification exam preparation courses for HR professionals or those entering the HR field. MCG offers three HR certification preparation courses for HRCI or SHRM equivalent: aPHR, PHR (SHRM-CP), and SPHR (SHRM-SCP). Not sure which exam is right for you? Here’s a quick breakdown.

Associate Professional in Human Resources (aPHR)

HRCI’s Associate Professional in Human Resources™ (aPHR™) was created for individuals new to or transitioning to the HR field, recent college graduates, military personnel transitioning to civilian life, or non-HR professionals who manage individuals in the workplace. You do not have to have prior HR experience to sit for this exam since this is a knowledge-based certification.

Professional in Human Resources (PHR)

The PHR was designed for HR professionals with the minimum years of experience working in HR capacities that require implementing HR policies and procedures or operational duties. Please refer to HRCI for details on the minimum year and educational requirements.

Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)

The SPHR was designed for HR professionals in mid-senior level HR roles with extensive knowledge in all HR disciplines and a keen understanding of an organizations business strategy. There are minimum year and educational requirements that can be found on HRCI’s website.

aPHR Prep Course

HRCI’s Associate in Professional Human Resources is a knowledge-based certification for those interested in starting a career in human resources or for those HR or non-HR professionals who manage employees eager to learn the basics of human resource principles, best practices, and employment law. Learners will be introduced to six functional areas of Human Resources:

This aPHR course is a six-week instructor-led online course on Saturday mornings that focuses on the essentials of human resource management and guides learners through the preparedness process to pursue the aPHR certification or as a basic foundation for those in non-HR related roles. The course includes interactive discussions and exercises, studying tips, practice questions, and an overview of the exam testing environment.

Cost: $495 (Tuition only)

Eligibility Requirements: Learners must possess a high-school diploma or global equivalent. No prior HR experience is required.

Required Course Materials: Learners will need to purchase HRCP’s 2021 aPHR certification preparation program print ( valued at $235) , online (valued at $165), or print and online edition with audio material (valued at $305).
